Arms Open Counselling offers clients thorough psychological assessments customized to meet their specific needs. These assessments can help clients gain clarity about their mental health and start their journey toward well-being.
Psychological assessments can greatly benefit clients in many ways, starting with an accurate understanding and obtaining a diagnosis, where appropriate. This can help clients gain access to appropriate treatments and support.
What can I expect from the process?
Our psychological assessments are conducted with our registered nurse practitioner, Beata, and consist of 3 parts.
1). Virtual or in-person assessment
Beata will gather a comprehensive background that will help her understand the client's history, past and current symptoms, and supports. These evaluations involve a detailed examination of cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and social functioning to provide an accurate diagnosis and inform the treatment plan. The client will be able to share how their lives have been affected and will help determine areas in which attention is needed.
This part of the assessment may include seeking written consent to speak to other family members or people in the client's lives.
2) From home:
The client will fill out various self-report questionnaires assessing areas such as mood, anxiety, and personality, which provide valuable insights into their mental health status.

3). Personalized Diagnoses and treatment recommendations
Beata will compile the information shared during step 1 and the compilation of information. Based on the information gathered during the assessment, the client may receive a diagnosis. A tailored treatment plan is then discussed to address the client's specific needs.
4). As needed, Educational Support: Beata will help educate clients and their circle of support, which may include partners, family members, educators, and employers, to support learning and enable the best support for the client.
